Drostanolone is the name Masteron is known by in the pharmaceutical world. It is a long abbreviation of Dihydrotestosterone or DHT as laymen know it. Chemically, it has a methyl group that is attached to the second carbon atom – 2alpha-methyl-androstan-3-one-17beta-ol or 2alpha-methyl-dihydrotestosterone. It has a molecular weight of 304.46 g/mol. Its formula is C2OH32O2. Masteron is available in two forms – Propionate and Enanthate. They have a half-life of 4.5 days and 10 days respectively and require almost 2 weeks for detection.
Androgenic Side Effects
In terms of negative side effects, the only real concern would be from the androgenic properties of dihydrotestosterone. Things such as oily skin, acne, body/facial hair growth, and hair loss if prone to male pattern baldness. Masteron is a synthetic form of DHT, therefore Proscar would have no impact on the level of androgenic effects (1,3). Individuals with a receding hairline and/or those that are predisposed to male pattern baldness may find it necessary to avoid this compound as it is likely that it will simply aggravate the condition further. As should be expected as well, users often anecdotally reported that the compound can exasperate any existing medical conditions concerning the prostate, or cause prostate complications in those that have suffered none before (3).
Side Effects of Masteron
For female breast cancer treatment, standard dosing calls for 100mg three times per weeks for 8-12 weeks. This will commonly lead to virilization symptoms that could be hard to reverse. However, no one can deny it’s still better than cancer. For the female athlete, 50mg per week should be more than enough for a total of 4-6 weeks. Some women may find doses closer to 100mg per week to be justified if they tolerate the hormone well. Doses of this range should be controllable for most women, but individual sensitivity must be kept in mind. Doses that go above the 100mg per week mark or beyond 4-6 weeks of use will more than likely produce virilization symptoms at some level.
